pah.moi, offline copy
=====================

This is pah.moi as it was built: every native page, the stylesheet, and the
WebAssembly engine the tools run inside. Nothing in here contacts a network,
before or after you unpack it. The last section explains how this copy keeps
its download size down.

Unpacking it
------------

This is a .tar.xz. On macOS and on Linux, double-click it or run:

    tar -xf pahmoi-offline.tar.xz

Windows 11 opens it from the right-click menu; on older Windows, 7-Zip does.

Running it
----------

From the folder this file is in, run:

    python3 -m http.server 8000

and open http://127.0.0.1:8000/ in a browser. Stop it with Ctrl-C.

Any static file server will do. Python is named because it is already on most
machines, not because the site needs it.

Why a server, rather than just opening the page
-----------------------------------------------

Opening index.html directly, at a file:// address, gives you the pages and none
of the tools. Browsers refuse to load a WebAssembly module over file://, and
every tool here is compiled to WebAssembly, so each tool page would show its
no-script description and stop there. The one line above is what turns them on.

Either way the work happens in your browser. A static file server hands over
files and does no computing; that is as true of the copy you are reading as it
is of the site.

What is smaller in here
-----------------------

Project screenshots are not included in this offline copy. Project write-ups
remain, along with other native images. Redundant responsive versions of the
remaining images are removed where they are no longer needed. The download
must fit the site's 25 MiB file limit.

Every native page, every tool, and the engine they run in are included.
Embedded project applications under spa/ are not included. Their project
write-ups remain; to see screenshots or launch an embedded application, visit
its project page at https://pah.moi/projects/ on the hosted site. Local links
into /spa/ cannot open an application in this offline copy.
The engine's extra compressed delivery copy is omitted; the ordinary
WebAssembly file is included.
